242 — WATCH that you maintain the firm realization and conviction that the devil flees when you resist him. Error is never more than suggestion, and seems to prevail only because it is not resisted and opposed promptly and persistently. Error cannot stand before right resistance. Often, however, one fancies that he is resisting the devil, or evil, when he is resisting effect instead of cause, as if one could change a moving picture by doing something to it at the screen.
